Albert L. Ray, MD, is Medical Director of The LITE Center and Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Florida. 

Certified by both the American Board of Pain Medicine and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Dr. Ray has been involved with the study and treatment of painful disorders for over 40 years. He has dedicated his career to the development of the specialty of Pain Medicine in the United States in order to improve pain care to the public. He is President of the Foundation for Pain Medicine, has served as Chairman of the Board of the National Pain Foundation, and has been on the Board of Directors of the Southeastern Branch of the National Arthritis Foundation. He is a Past President of the American Academy of Pain Medicine, Past President of the Southern Pain Society, Past President of the Florida Academy of Pain Medicine, and a past Director of the American Board of Pain Medicine, where he remains a member of their exam council. He served as the AMA Alternate delegate for the American Academy of Pain Medicine for 10 years. Dr. Ray is the President of the Academy of Oxidative Stress Disorders. 

Dr. Ray is a national and international lecturer. He has co-authored chapters in textbooks on pain management, is an editorial reviewer for Pain Medicine and Neuromodulation, and has served as the Integrative Approaches Section Editor for Comprehensive Treatment of Chronic Pain by Medical, Interventional, and Integrative Approaches: The AMERICAN ACADEMY OF PAIN MEDICINE Textbook on Patient Management. He is the recipient of several awards and honors, including the Nancy C. Roeske, MD teaching award for Excellence in Medical Education from the American Psychiatric Association, and the Felix Linetsky Award for Excellence in Education from the Florida Academy of Pain Medicine. In addition, Dr. Ray was listed in the Top 200 Doctors in South Florida in 2000, Best Doctors in America from 2009-2010, and Top Doctor in Pain Management 2018. He is recipient of the Presidents Distinguished Service awards from Southern Pain Society and Florida Academy of Pain Medicine. Dr. Ray also received the 2016 Miami Award for Pain Medicine. 

Dr. Ray utilizes an interdisciplinary approach in his functional restoration and pain program, and has incorporated Integrative Medicine, medical shockwave, and low level medical laser into his treatment regimes. Dr. Ray’s programs have been among the first to incorporate Eastern and Western approaches into functional restoration.
